Sammie Ward is a fiction and nonfiction writer born and raised in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and now living in Maryland. She began writing short stories on the advice of a friend. Her first short story was sold to Black Romance in November 2000. Since then she has written and published over forty short stories. She has written confession short stories for Black Romance, Black Confessions, Black Secrets, Bronze Thrills, Jive, True Black Experience, and True Confessions magazines. She is the author of the novels, In The Name Of Love, Love To Behold, Seven Days, and It’s in The Rhythm. She is also the author of the published short stories, Sweet Island Temptation (e-book), Weekend Escapade (e-book), Second Chance At Love (e-book), Smooth Operator (e-book), and What Are Girlfriends For? (e-book) In June (2005) she was voted BEST NEW DRAMA &FICTION OF THE YEAR for her debut novel, IN THE NAME OF LOVE by the DLNA (Disilgold Literary National Association). The following year she earned a YOUnity Guild Award for: New Romance Author of the Year (2006). The same year, she was recognized as a Literary Diva in Heather Covington best selling novel: Literary Diva: The Top 100+ African-American Women in Literature. The novel was nominated for a 2007 NAACP Image Award.
