rules—Good Lovin’ Ain't Easy!
Can a man be successful, handsome, sensitive
and still be faithful to one woman?

you a captivating novel about love, fortune
and family values with gripping suspense,
spicy love scenes, and witty dialogue. Good
Lovin’ Ain’t Easy sizzles with excitement as
her characters negotiate in and out of
life-changing experiences.
JD and Myrna Calhoun…JD is the ideal
husband—handsome, sensitive and he’s a great
lover! But, with money rapidly disappearing,
Myrna’s forced to choose between her love
for JD and her daughter’s security.
Suddenly, JD acquires enormous wealth that,
unfortunately, becomes threatened by two
scandalous females. In an act of
desperation, JD becomes a man with a
mission: To recover his fortune and save his
marriage.
Veda Marie Calhoun…not born of wealth, but a
product of wealth, finds love with handsome
fiancé, Charles Winston Caziere. However, it
comes at an enormous price —his psychotic
ex-girlfriend, Monica Webber. Determined,
Monica comes to California to reclaim what
she feels is rightfully hers—Veda's fiancé.
In a race against time, Veda is forced to
protect her future.
What others are saying...
“Sykes brilliantly crafts her characters in
spine-tingling plots that skillfully
challenges the question: Can a man be
faithful to one woman? She raises the stakes
as she negotiates the characters in and out
of life-changing experiences. Good Lovin
Ain’t Easy was a refreshing novel that
didn’t follow the conventional
four-girlfriend plot. Each characters voice
was authentic. I’ve reviewed numerous books
over the years, but this one I couldn’t put
down. I highly recommend Good Lovin’ Ain’t
Easy” --Cheryl Beckmann
“In Good Lovin’ Ain’t Easy, Sykes’
incorporates her uncanny insights into
relationships and the human psyche to deftly
weave a mesmerizing tale about sincere, but
flawed, characters we can relate to. The
characters, and their actions, ring true,
allowing her reader to experience
vicariously the joys, fears, heartbreaks and
triumphs of individuals they come to know
intimately.” --Gail Byrd
"Barbara's combination of gripping suspense,
tender lovemaking, and witty dialogue make
Good Lovin’ Ain’t Easy an amazing read.” –Shirin
Bibayan
“Good Lovin' Ain't Easy is a very powerful
novel about an African American family. Ms.
Sykes does a masterful job with the
characters in her novel. She vividly brings
them to life.
Good Lovin' Ain't Easy shows love conquers
all in dealing with such issues as jealousy,
trickery and rage. In spite of many
obstacles family relationships make for a
strong bond. This novel is about family.” --
